New Work by Snaggs Le Merde & Scrappers at GRNY
This saturday, Giant Robot will present Mossy & Glossy, a group show featuring new works by artists from the Pacific Northwest with excellent nicknames: Justin “Scrappers” Morrison, Candi “Snaggs” Hibert, and Mike “Le Merde” Kelly.
According to a press release, “The art of Scrappers reflects the outdoorsy environment of Portland, OR and his new pieces will preview his upcoming book about a logging crew, feral scouts, beards, and mushrooms. Seattle-based Snaggs was inspired by stuffed Nauga Monsters from the ’60s to become a felt artist. Her rainbow-colored body of work, which includes “paintings,” dolls, and pillows, has a retro modern style that combines the handmade quality of craft with the sensibility of clean design. Le Merde has gained a rabid following in the limited-edition figure scene with his molten and oozing but cute style.”
A reception for Scrappers, Snaggs, and Le Merde will be held from 6:30 to 10:00 on Saturday, June 21.
Artwork will be available to view and purchase online next week.

“ALL TOGETHER NOW”
There’s strength in numbers and nothing brings people together more than art. When the media wants us to choose sides over polarizing presidential candidates and divisive issues it’s always a good song, art piece or book that brings us together.
On Friday, June 27th, Art Nouveau Magazine presents “All Together Now” an exhibition featuring the work of Corinne Francilus, Myra Nash, Shawn Blake, Olivia Dong and Paul Deforrest. The work in this show will take your mind off all that divides us and focus on something that brings us together—the human experience. So let us grow together and enjoy together. Pieces will be available for purchase during the event.
Art Nouveau Magazine presents “All Together Now” will open June 27th from 7 pm – 10 pm at Tilt Coffee Shop in Castleberry Hill during the famous Art Stroll. “All Together Now” will be on display until July 24th.

“TAKE A DEEP BREATH” AND ENJOY THIS SHOW

One of our favorite galleries, The Carmichael Gallery of Contemporary Art presents Take a Deep Breath, a group exhibition featuring new artworks by Asbestos, Cherri Wood, The Dark, Kngee and Know Hope.
Each artists work, and their method of composing their pieces are different, as different as the cities they’re from, the artists come together to present and confront innoncence, iniquity, alienation and personal and urban neglect.
Artwork on display will comprise of a wide source of media, including hyper-realistic stencils, intricate three-dimensional cardboard works, large-scale photographs, oil pastel drawings, mixed media collages, and raspberry-infused watercolors (yum!) on paper and canvas.
The Dark, Kngee, and Know Hope will be in attendance at the opening of Take a Deep Breath on Saturday, June 21st.
Make sure to get to know all the participating artists in-depth at imeem.com/carmichaelgallery.
Carlos Ramos’ “Natural History” Solo Exhibition

Los Angeles artist Carlos Ramos has a solo exhibition of new work titled Natural History Museum Part I coming up at Corey Helford Gallery. For his first solo show in LA, Ramos replicates the natural history museum experience for his audience, fusing the natural world with the art world.
A series of twenty-four large-scale paintings based on classic grand dioramas and a special installation of skeletal structures will transform the gallery into an epicenter of flora and fauna. The concept of the exhibition is based on Ramos’ childhood fascination with natural history museums and the “authoritative” impression they made on him growing up.
Developing a show around a cohesive theme as well as expanding the size and scale of his work mark an exciting new direction for the artist, which has allowed him to explore environments and characters more freely than in the past.
Natural History Museum Part I will open on Saturday, June 28th and will be on view until July 16th. More info at coreyhelfordgallery.com.
