GRNappletree Host “Control” Movie Screening

GRNappletree, one of the biggest streetwear lines today, will hold a free movie screening for “Control” Fri. June 20th, in Los Angeles at the Downtown Warehouse. A DJ will be spinning at 7 PM and the movie will start at 8 PM. Make sure to check it out if you’re in L.A.
Pacific Division Model New TBG Summer Line

Apparently legendary Japanese designer Rockin’ Jelly Bean hearts BBC | Ice Cream. Bean is revisiting his previous partnerships with BBC | Ice Cream in an upcoming collaborative effort. As part of the yet to be revealed Season 7 collection of BBC, look for some new updated looks on some of BBC | Ice Cream’s staple designs. Stay tuned for more details.

FIFTY24SF featuring Cody Hudson and Michael Seiben

Last week was the opening of the joint show between skateboard artists’ Cody Hudson and Michael Seiben. Cody Hudson’s exhibit “Save My Life,” explores happiness and forseen death of human life while Michael Sieben’s “Heroes for Ghosts” uses his trademark style to show the progression from childhood to the adult life.The exhibition is on display at San Francisco’s FIFTY24SF.

Yes, it’s back on the map PLAID. For me it was the saying I will never wear that B.S. So now what do I do because it’s starting to fancy me alot. Why yes, make it an accessorie. These are the newest foot wear for skatebording but I am far from a skater girl. The shoes were inspired by a legendary skateborder Mark Gonzales and eS designers.
Asuza Fall/Winter 08 Collection

Australian fashion label Asuza have just released photos from their Fall/Winter ‘08 line. The line is dark feature mostly black, white, gray and a tinge of white. But what it lacks in color it makes up for in fit and cut. The denim skinnies are a winner. My favorite are the acid washed denim with the black cuff at the bottom. Complex Geometries Spring/Summer 2008 Line
I never liked geometry in school. But this isn’t school and this isn’t that type of geometry, it’s alot more complex–in a good way. Montreal based fashion label Complex Geometries by designer Clayton Evans released their Spring/Summer 2008 line which looks amazing. The cuts, the colors, the fits are all unique and seem like a perfect mesh between streetwear and high fashion. Click more for more photos.

Nike SB “Concepts Lobster” Dunk

Concepts and Nike SB will team up for a collaborative NIKE SB Dunk called Lobster. The shoe will launch Saturday May 31st. The limited edition shoe is inspired by the seafood heritage that exists in New England. The shoe is available exclusively at Concepts. The first 200 pairs include limited packaging, which includes a t-shirt, lobster claw rubber band, condiment box and a poster. The special pack will be extremely limited to 200 pairs, and will retail for $150 USD and the first 50 pairs will come with a special, limited edition wooden box.

Fashion History 101 “The God father of Couture”
Charles Fredrick Worth

Born in England he moved to France in 1846 where he was hired by a well known Persian drapery. He married and French model who modeled bonnets and shawls. It wasn’t long before he started to make a name for himself in the fashion industry. While married Worth created simple dresses for his wife, it wasn’t long before customers started asking for their own version of worth gowns. His style and art of simplicity revolutionized the French fashion industry in the 19thcentury; creating gowns for more with fewer materials taking away the excessiveness of ruffles and frills, Worth redefined the female shape.

His creations were worn by some of the finest and most elite from the Empress Eugenie, actress Sarah Bernhardt and notable Courtesan Cora Pearl who was known for her elegance and sexual appeal, she only wore Worth’s gowns because she believe they attracted wealthy men which was proven to be true overtime. She was linked to be the mistress of Napoleon III and many other prominent gentlemen of the 19th century.
Worth gave is customer elegance posse and well crafted gowns. After his death Worth’s two sons Gaston and Jean-Phillipe started the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture which directs which mediates fashion institutions and couture houses.

Accentric Sri Lankan singer and DJ M.I.A has expanded her career in a new way: releasing her own clothing line. Her style consists of bright, bold, ‘in-your-face’ attitude and her clothing line will be no different. She wants people to get noticed and in reference to her new clothes she has said:
“With my stuff, because everything’s really bright, if you lose it or someone steals it, you can see it from miles away and you can be like, ‘Oy! Give me my shirt back!’”
