Album Review: “Feed The Animals” by Girl Talk

Girl Talk’s fourth album, “Feed the Animals” is near immaculate. Those familiar with Girl Talk will come to the album expecting the wide variety of samples, but for this disc it seems producer Greg Gillis used samples from seemingly everybody, expected and unexpected—M.I.A., Michael Jackson, Jay-Z, The Police, The Cure, Britney and Madonna, Rihanna and Queen—they’re all fare game. He even takes some of their most obscure tracks and mixes them in the party.
The highlight of the album is undoubtedly “Here’s The Thing” which at 1:05 features an amazing breakbeat remix of Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone.” In the track he manages to mix in Mary J. Blige, Peter Bjorn and John, Shawty Lo, Elvis Costello, Nelly Furtado, NIN, & MC Hammer and still have an great track.
What I found so intriguing about the album is in the our iTunes three and a half minute single loving culture “Feed The Animals” exists as a rare ode to the dwindling form of creating an album. This is Girl Talk everybody can enjoy.
