It is admirable that a band only wants to bring the fun back into music that's the case with power pop band Farewell. To prove this, they named their debut album Isn’t This Supposed to Be Fun!? Art Nouveau Magazine caught up with Marshall Davis, the lead singer of Farewell recently.

"That kind of music didn't seem fun for us to play. We all loved pop-punk and rock music growing up, so metal just was never that appealing to us"

ANM: Tell me about your band?

MD: We are a progressive pop-punk band from NC and we're going to put the balls back into this neutered genre. We're dorks who live to play music, and we're coming to a town near you.

ANM: The album is out and it's great-what's your favorite track on the album?

MD: My favorite track right now is "First One On The Blog". We just shot a music video for it, and it represents the attitude of the record for the most part. Plus, the song is really fun to play live, cause the crowd can get involved with the gang vocals.

ANM: What is the significance of the title of the album?

MD: The album title is our response to all the haters out there who think that pop-punk/pop-rock/whatever you want to call us...is not a "credible" music form. We play this music cause it's fun and makes you [want to] dance around. That's why we picked up instruments in the first place.

ANM: You're from a town saturated in Metal and Hardcore what made you dwell into light hearted power pop tunes?

MD: That kind of music didn't seem fun for us to play. We all loved pop-punk and rock music growing up, so metal just was never that appealing to us.
Plus, power pop music is high energy and a blast to play live.

ANM: What musicians influence you?

MD: I was really into the Get Up Kids, Hot Water Music, and Alkaline Trio when I started playing music, but Green Day and the Rentals are the bands that paved the way. I'm just a sucker for good choruses and good lyrics.

ANM: Anything else you'd like to mention?

MD: We have a new record that just came out, and we'd love for you to go pick it up. I promise that if you are into  fun, poppy music.....you won't be disappointed.
